|a Según cinta magnetofónica enviada por Bebo Valdés alautor en la Navidad de 1990, a la que nos referiremos otras veces como BV-1990, Bebo firmó contrato con laDecca por cinco años en 1954, para grabar música instrumental exclusivamente, él quedaba en libertad degrabar acompañando a cantantes con otros sellos, como hizo. En 1954 se editó el primero, DL-8134 que tuvogran éxito y dió a conocer a Bebo fuera de Cuba. El considera que el álbum Bebo Valdés and his Havana AllStars tenía bien puesto el nombre, pues lo integraban entre otros músicos, Gustavo Mas, sax tenor; LuisEscalante, trp.; Tojo Jiménez, trb.; Guillermo Barreto, drums y timbales; Felo Hernández, bajo; CarlitosQuesada, cl.; y Giraldo en los bongoses, y Cándido en las tumbadoras. En años siguientes grabó los otrosDecca. En esta época la orquesta de Bebo Valdés se llamó: Bebo Valdés y su Havana All Stars |
